Adult Enrichment

The Adult Enrichment Ministry desires senior adults to come to, and grow in, a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Each program and activity has that priority.

The Adult Enrichment Ministries is for those who are age 60 plus years of age. Ministry opportunities arise for adults, singles, married adults, and more mature adults who have retired from the hurry and activity of their vocational life, and are looking to find their places to serve the Lord.

We encourage “Adults to move forward and nurture their lives with Christ.” The different stages of adult life experiences and challenges include marriage, raising children, changing vocations, adjusting to the loss of a spouse, empty nest, and more. This ministry nurtures and validates the advancement of each life with Jesus Christ, recognizing the skills and resources each person possesses as a gift from and to God. Houston's First needs many volunteers to help with the various activities and programs.

Contact the Adult Enrichment Ministries office for opportunities which include educational seminars, fellowships, spiritual maturing venues, extracurricular activities including trips, and more – all aimed at experiencing the joy in the Lord.

Senior Salad Supper hosted by Thursday Bible Study

Thu, Sep 23 @ Noon - Rm 251/252

Call to sign up and tell us what kind of salad you would like to bring, meaty, hearty, veggie, or "sweetie." We'll have tea, coffee, bread and crackers. Bring a friend and come early for the 10:30 am Bible study!

Single Women's Car Clinic

Sat, Sep 25 @ 8 am - HFBC East Parking Lot

Registration will open on 13 Sep. Participants bring a food donation and pay for parts and the labor is free thanks to our wonderful volunteer "mechanistas!" Call for your appointment on or after the 13th.

Senior Adult Golf Bi-Monthly

1st Mon and 3rd Tue of every month.

Location: Pine Crest Country Club

Time: Meet at the clubhouse @ 8 am after warm-up.

Cost: $22.75

Senior Men’s Prayer Group

Every Tue @ 9 am – Rm 258

All senior men welcome! This group meets all year, every week. Strengthen the body and come when you can, even if you can't come every week.

Game Day

Every 2nd and 4th Mon @ Noon – Garden Rm

CHANGE EFFECTIVE AUG 9 — The game day will be changed from every Tue to every 2nd and 4th Mon of each month.

Keep those brain cells fired up! Bring a snack to share and get ready to play.

Thursday Bible Study

Every Thu @ 10 am – Rm 251

Join us for fellowship and study. A salad luncheon is being planned for September 23 after class, see above for details.

No TBS on 9 Sep, we will have a bus trip to the Museum of Natural Science.

Special events sometimes occur on Thu, in place of Thursday Bible Study (TBS). If in doubt, call 713.957.7661.

Larry Lilley has been named Minister to Senior Adults

During the recent Senior Adult Revival, Pastor Gregg announced that Larry is no longer “interim” but has been named Minister to Senior Adults.

Larry had been given oversight of the 17 “Adult II” Sunday Bible Study Departments earlier. He has been at Houston’s First Baptist for nearly twenty years and was a pastor in Wichita Falls, for twenty years. He and his wife Pat have four children and will celebrate their 50th Wedding Anniversary later this year.
