Art Show
Mar 21–Apr 4, 2010 - Main Foyer
This year’s Holy Week art exhibit is called The Great Exchange and will consist of work inspired by the miracles of Christ and created from discarded, unwanted items. By making art from rubbish, we hope to imitate the character and nature of God, who takes us as we are and transforms us into a new creation through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ (II Corinthians 5:17).
In Isaiah 61:1-4, God is revealed as the God who is in the exchange business called redemption. Nowhere is this more evident than during Holy Week when the life of Christ comes to an amazing climax in His Crucifixion and Resurrection. He offers His pure, sinless life in exchange for our sins…His holiness for our sinfulness…His love for our hate…His death for our life. Through this great exchange emerges something new and beautiful—the Body of Christ that is the Church.
We have chosen to create "exchanged" art around the theme of Christ’s miracles simply because the greatest miracle He worked occurred on the Cross and through the Resurrection of Holy Week.
